For SMEs that are still thinking about placing their products on Amazon, this may be a good trial to find out if Amazon can provide a boost in sales.
Currently, the company offers more than 20 product categories for sellers to list their products. All products must be new and some categories may require pre-approval by Amazon before a seller can list in them.
The pre-approval pretty standard practice for Amazon as it tries to keep its marketplace clean in some categories that have higher than average problems with fake goods, bad sellers, or over-saturation.
Fees For Selling
In addition to the monthly fee, there are category referral fees Amazon charges. Here is a list of all the current categories with the current referral percentages charged by Amazon:

Amazon also has a refund administration fee. If a seller refunds a customer for an order for which they have already received payment, Amazon will refund the seller the amount of the Referral Fee paid for the item(s), minus the applicable Refund Administration Fee, which is the lesser of $5.00 or 20% of the applicable Referral Fee.
The percentages and fees are in line with other Amazon country marketplaces, but may be new to sellers used to selling on eBay.
