The postal service currently has five hundred people in necessary self-isolation due to COVID. This is placing increased pressure on its network, while Australia Post also must manage flight restrictions, temporary facility closures, and parcel volumes near Christmas peak levels.
The only impacted service will be Parcel Post, with Express Post, Premium, Startrack Express, and Letters remaining unaffected.
Post Offices remain open for all usual business, including accepting carded parcels.
Australia Post said items lodged at Post Offices and Street Posting Boxes will also continue to be collected for processing, and collections in all other States will remain the same.
As the postal service tries to clear its backlog, deliveries will continue across the weekend as its people deliver record amounts of parcels to Australians.
