The latest update means that the personalization option will be expanded to include 219 categories with the main expansion coming across the food & drink, sporting goods, and seasonal decorations category trees.
Years ago when eBay started pushing their catalog-style listing style which many in the industry dubbed ‘the Amazonification of eBay’ it meant that personalized items would all require their own barcode and made the listing process tiresome for many merchants selling customizable products. Since then a number of changes have occurred which have led to them being able to offer and expand on their personalization listing offering.
You can see the full update from eBay below:
“Dear Business Sellers,
You’ll be seeing some useful changes to selling personalized items on eBay.co.uk which should help support your selling activity in this space.
The personalization feature has been expanded to include new categories such as Food & Drink, Sporting Goods, and Seasonal Decorations. This means you can now choose from almost 600 categories to add the Personalisation option to your items.
You’ll find the full list of categories here.
If you haven’t personalized your items before, you can find instructions and a helpful video on how to do this here.
You’ll also see some changes to our returns policy for Personalised items. Remorse returns are no longer accepted for personalized items as these items are made to order. The returns section on listings has been updated to reflect this.
Thank you for selling with eBay.
Regards,“
