eBay UK raising international rates to 23 European countries

eBay UK Raising International Selling Fees to 23 European Countries

Effective on 1 January 2022, eBay is raising international fees for sellers with a registered address in the UK when shipping items to 23 European countries (Eurozone & Northern Europe).

Don’t Miss

This fee increase will affect all orders going from UK sellers to buyers that provide a delivery address (as entered by the buyer at checkout) to the following countries:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Cyprus
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Luxembourg
  • Malta
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Portugal
  • Sweden
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain

All sales from that date forward will be affected by this fee increase, regardless of when the item was originally listed, relisted, or renewed. Additionally, this applies whether sellers handle international postage themselves or through the eBay Global Shipping Program (GSP).

For Business sellers:

The international fees to these 23 countries will increase from 0.5% to 1.05% (exclusive of VAT). See this link for more information from eBay.

For Private sellers:

The international fees to these 23 countries will increase from 0.6% to 1.26% (inclusive of VAT at 20%). See this link for more information from eBay.

Managing eBay Selling Preferences

To continue selling to these 23 countries, sellers do not need to change their preferences if they are already selling to these locations. However, sellers who wish to reduce the chances of selling to these countries will need to make adjustments to their selling preferences.

eBay has the following help pages to learn more about selling preferences:

For sellers that want to use GSP to fulfill international orders but wish to exclude these 23 countries will need to follow these steps:

  1. Select the countries they do not wish to post to by updating excluded postage locations.
  2. Ensure ‘Also apply to current listings’ option is selected.
  3. Untick the option ‘Override my postage exclusions for Global Shipping Programme eligible items.’
  4. Save preferences.

Again, these fee changes will not go into effect until 1 January 2022, so there is some time to make any adjustments. eBay did not provide a reason for the fee increase.
