Today, Instagram, a Facebook company, is launching Click to Messenger ads. Nearly 20 million Facebook pages already use this technology, so the expansion to Instagram is a natural progression.

Don’t Miss

At Facebook F8, the company stated it was working on making Messenger an integral part of business communications. It said it wanted to make Messenger the new Yellow Pages of the Internet.

When an Instagram user sees engages with a Click to Messenger ad, it will allow that user to start an immediate conversation with the business on Messenger.

WHY DOES MESSENGER MATTER TO BUSINESSES?

Many people still consider Messenger are person to person IM chat tool. However, with over 1.2 billion people using Messenger every month, it has become a valuable communications channel for businesses.

Facebook already claims over 100,000 active bots on the Messenger platform. Moreover, over 2 billion messages are already exchanged on the Messenger platform between people and businesses.

Messenger is becoming a go-to platform for communication, maybe now as important as phone and email. Sephora launched Sephora Assistant on Messenger and saw an 11% higher booking rate through Messenger when compared to other channels.

MESSENGER KEY TO MOBILE COMMERCE?

While there are a plethora of messaging apps for IOS and Android, Facebook’s Messenger platform has taken a significant bite out of this market.

Google announced just a few weeks ago better integration with payment, but it seems Messenger may become the key to B2C eCommerce communication.

No other app right now can claim such a direct link to allow shoppers to communicate with sellers instantly. Click to Messenger ads on Facebook and Instagram are a logical solution for greater conversion on social media.
