The initiative is a partnership between ShippingEasy and South Pole, a leading climate solutions provider and carbon project developer.
ShippingEasy said that during this year’s holiday season, it will cover the cost to offset the carbon emissions of packages when merchants use its discounted shipping rates.
Sustainability is increasingly becoming a selling point for consumers, including how an order is delivered. A recent report from Metapack found that 56% of consumers globally would accept a longer delivery time to make their online deliveries more sustainable.
With The Greenest Way to Ship initiative, ShippingEasy merchants can promote sustainability without sacrificing delivery speed.
“At ShippingEasy, our goal is to help merchants successfully start and run their ecommerce businesses. I’m very proud to share that now we can also help merchants go carbon-neutral during their busiest season,” said Chris Vaughn, General Manager of ShippingEasy.
“We value sustainability at ShippingEasy, and are proud to offer this value as an embedded feature to our merchants and their end customers.”
ShippingEasy – the Greenest Way To Ship – How It Works
ShippingEasy’s partnership with South Pole to power The Greenest Way to Ship is a result of the company’s experience developing and successfully managing nearly 1,000 projects in over 50 countries to reduce CO2 emissions.
For each shipment placed through The Greenest Way to Ship, ShippingEasy will calculate the carbon impact based on the distance the shipment will travel and its mode of transportation.
Then, ShippingEasy will purchase a corresponding carbon offset from the South Pole owned Dempsey Ridge Wind Project, a zero emissions, grid-connected, wind energy source in Oklahoma.
The Greenest Way to Ship is available now in the ShippingEasy app and will run until January 12, 2023.
Existing ShippingEasy customers won’t need to take any action to enroll in The Greenest Way To Ship. New merchants interested to access this sustainability initiative can join the program at any time.
Participating ShippingEasy merchants will also get access to The Greenest Way To Ship badges, logos, and social media assets to promote their sustainability efforts to customers during this year’s holiday season.
