New USPS Service Standards Start Today (August 1) for Retail Ground and Parcel Select Ground
Reading Time: 1 minute New USPS service standards for Retail Ground and Parcel Select Ground changed today (August 1, 2022). Here is what you need to know.
The Postal Service has adjusted service standards for these two services matching the First Class Package Service (FCPS) service standards of 2-5 days in the contiguous United States.
This service standard adjustment seems to be a small step toward its plan to simplify packages services from three ground packages services to one starting in January of 2023.
The proposed plan is still subject to approval by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC).
USPS Package Service Standards Not Changing
USPS reiterated that Retail Ground or Parcel Select packages originating or destined outside the contiguous United States (“offshore” locations) will continue to receive Package Services service standards between 2-16 days.
Offshore” locations include the following 3-digit zip codes: 006-009, 967-969, and 995-999.
Hazardous Materials shipped as Retail Ground or Parcel Select Ground will also continue to receive the Package Services service standard from all origins and destinations.
