Amazon Opens ‘Buy With Prime’ Program to All Eligible Independent Merchants

SHARE

Amazon launched its ‘Buy with Prime’ service in April of 2022 on an invite-only basis and announced on Tuesday that it is now making it available to eligible U.S.-based merchants by January 31, 2023.

Buy with Prime is a new benefit for U.S. Prime Members enabling them to shop directly from a merchant’s online store with the trusted experience they are accustomed to from Amazon.com — such as fast & free shipping, a seamless checkout experience, and easy returns.

When Prime members see the Prime logo and delivery promise on eligible products, they will know that this item is available for free delivery — as fast as the next day — with easy returns.

Enabling independent merchants to offer Prime shopping benefits on their own direct-to-consumer online stores is a new and innovative way to help merchants of all sizes grow their business whether on Amazon or beyond.

Buy with Prime Increases Shopper Conversion

By enabling shoppers to purchase directly from merchants’ online stores with the Amazon “shopping experience,” Buy with Prime allows online businesses to grow customer relationships and brand loyalty while driving conversions.

Amazon’s internal data found that Buy with Prime increased shopper conversion by 25% on average. Of course, some retailers saw higher conversions than 25%, while others we below that number, but still, the average is a significant jump and one that should interest many merchants.

Because of the success of the limited roll-out of Buy with Prime, Amazon is now ready to grow the program and plans to add more tools and options, improving the experience for merchants and shoppers.

Introducing Reviews From Amazon

For example, with this announcement, Amazon is launching a new capability for Buy with Prime merchants: the ability to integrate customer reviews from Amazon.com into their own storefronts.

Displaying ratings and reviews on their online stores will help merchants increase shopper trust and should increase conversion rates further.

Today’s online shopper doesn’t just hit click and buy but tries to make informed buying decisions and this new integration will enable merchants to offer more details to nudge buyers to make the purchase.

BigCommerce: First Ecommerce Platform Integration

While Buy with Prime will work with most online stores, BigCommerce also announced today they are now the first ecommerce platform to integrate the service for its merchants with a self-service app — no coding required.

Amazon says they’ve been working closely with merchants since launching the Buy with Prime program and are “thrilled to hear that the program has helped drive such impressive results so far.”
