Seller Ledger Bookkeeping Launches for eBay – Streamlined Features Geared Towards Sellers

Last year, GoDaddy announced it was shutting down its popular low-cost bookkeeping service used by eBay, Etsy, and many other marketplace and small business sellers.

This sudden retirement of the GoDaddy Bookkeeping service had sellers scramble to find other solutions, often opting for QuickBooks, FreshBooks, or using Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel to keep track of their accounting.

eBay had integrated its eBay Payments solution into QuickBooks in early 2022, making it one of the easier transitions for sellers. But QuickBooks has become more complicated over the years, with many extra features small business sellers don’t need or use.

This is exactly the reason why GoDaddy Bookkeeping service was originally launched in 2008 as Outright.com by Kevin Reeth and Ben Curren.

Both Reeth and Curren had worked previously at Intuit and saw an opportunity to service small and micro businesses with a simpler solution. Kevin Reeth exited Outright.com in 2011, just before the company was sold to GoDaddy, while Curren stayed on until 2013.

Now Reeth has returned with a new product that targets the same market segment that GoDaddy left behind after it closed down its bookkeeping service. His new company, Seller Ledger, was quietly launched in January 2023 in a closed beta but is now opening its virtual doors to all sellers.

“As many of you are painfully aware, GoDaddy Bookkeeping was shut down mid-year in 2022. We were not happy with the demise of something we had worked so hard to create,” said Kevin Reeth.

“We then looked at the market to see what alternatives existed and if folks were happy with those solutions. Turns out, not so much. So, we started reaching out to sellers to see if there might be interest in a new bookkeeping website for online sellers. The response was very positive.

“So, in a rapid sprint, we’ve put forth a new product called Seller Ledger to fill the gap in the market. Our initial focus has been on eBay sellers, with plans to add additional marketplaces and sales channels soon. With the help of a tremendous group of initial customers/alpha testers, we’ve built and launched a first version of the product.”

More than 300 online sellers took the time to test the new software, find bugs, data discrepancies, and fine-tuned the product to be ready for public launch now.

“We still have big plans for improving the product. In addition to adding new marketplaces like Etsy, Amazon and others, we will also continue to prioritize smaller improvements to make the product easier to use,” he added.

Seller Ledger Exits Beta

Customers who had been using the product for free during the beta phase will now be granted the same 30-day trial period as those who are newly signing up.

Their primary benefit will be that all the data already in their account (including transactions for the full 2022 year where available) will continue to be available as they transition to the paid product. Plans start at $10 per month.

New customers to Seller Ledger can try it for free for 30 days. During the trial, sellers can import up to 90 days of sales and expense history from eBay, PayPal, banks, and credit cards. This will give sellers a chance to see how well Seller Ledger can ease their bookkeeping burden.

And best of all, there is no credit card needed to give the product a try. As a bonus, sellers that opt into pre-paying a Seller Ledger subscription for an entire year will receive up to 18 months of data on eBay.

The following plans are available at launch:

• $10/month or $100 for the year (up to 250 transactions per month)
• $20/month or $200 for the year (up to 1,000 transactions per month)
• $50/month or $500 for the year (up to 5,000 transactions per month)
