Amazon Encouraging Entrepreneurs to Start Delivery Business
Amazon continues to expand, this time in the logistics department where they’re recruiting small businesses to start their own delivery networks. The company announced today its new program called Delivery Service Partners which aims to help entrepreneurs start their own business handling Amazon packages.
Amazon – Your Business Partner?
Interested individuals can start their own network for a minimum investment of $10,000 and operate on a fleet of up to 40 Amazon-branded trucks. However, they are responsible for hiring and managing their own drivers.
Although Amazon already has great delivery partners such as UPS, FedEx, and the U.S. Postal Service, among others, Amazon says it has to expand its capacity to keep up with consumer demands.
“Customer demand is higher than ever and we have a need to build more capacity. As we evaluated how to support our growth, we went back to our roots to share the opportunity with small-and-medium-sized businesses. We are going to empower new, small businesses to form in order to take advantage of the growing opportunity in e-commerce package delivery.”

Under the Delivery Service Partners program, business owners can earn as much as $300,000 in annual profit. One of its beta participants, Olaoluwa Abimbola, said he recently drove for Amazon Flex and is now enjoying the perks of running his own delivery company. He has so far hired over 40 employees to join his team.

What is your take on this? It is an entrepreneurial concept from Amazon and also encouraging others to explore entrepreneurship themselves. It is however not known at this time how much Amazon themselves have a say in your business.
