eBay Canada Expands Authenticity Guarantee to Trading Cards
eBay Canada introduces its new Authenticity Guarantee program for trading cards, providing a secure and trustworthy transaction experience for both buyers and sellers.
Single, ungraded trading cards with a value exceeding $250 will now undergo authentication at no extra expense to the buyer or seller. In Canada, the authentication is verified by eBay’s partners at CGC and CSG, in its recently established Canadian authentication facility.
When Canadian sellers list their eligible cards now on the platform, the blue Authenticity Guarantee badge will appear on the listings. Here is how it works:
- Once a buyer purchases the card from a listing, it will ship to eBay’s Canadian-based authentication facility for inspection.
- The card will go through a multipoint inspection process performed by CGC or CSG. In addition, the card will also be checked against listing details before being packaged. Cards are not graded.
- After authentication, the card is slipped into a larger penny sleeve and sealed with an authentication sticker and a QR code linking the authentication details.
- The card is then placed into a padfolio and delivered safely to the buyer via discreet and secure tracked shipping.

If a buyer chooses to return an item and the seller has a return policy in place, the trading card will undergo another inspection upon its return, again ensuring the safety and protection of both buyers and sellers.
According to the eBay Canada terms, the trading cards Authenticity Guarantee is only available for buyers and sellers in Canada, not including buyers or sellers in Quebec.
