eBay Open Seller Conference Returns in 2023 on September 26 – 29 (Update / Date Change)
In May, eBay confirmed that its eBay Open seller conference is returning this year in the United States, with some presentation adjustments based on feedback from last year’s attendees. The best part of eBay Open is that all events are free!
However, today (June 9, 2023) eBay issued a small date change to this year’s eBay Open event, with September 26 being reserved for the in-person eBay Open Studio events and the three days of online presentations being moved to September 27 – 29, 2023.
Here are the updated details:
On September 26, eBay Open Studio events will be held in Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Phoenix before the main eBay Open event. This is different from last year, when they were held in the middle of day 3.
At all four eBay Open Studio events, sellers can get one-on-one support from eBay experts and network with the local sellers. Appetizers and drinks will be available.
To attend one of the four kickoff events, reservations are mandatory due to limited availability. Each eBay Open Studio events will take place from 5pm to 8pm (local time) and the registration deadline is July 31st, although it is highly advisable to secure a spot by signing up right now.
The three-day eBay Open seller conference will again be held online as a virtual event on September 27-29, 2023. The format will be similar to last year with some tweaks to the programming.
- There will be more demos and live engagement with eBay experts and sellers this year.
- Based on seller feedback, eBay is enlisting more sellers to lead eBay Open sessions.
- All eBay Open sessions will be available as instant replays, ensuring that sellers can “attend” all sessions without missing any information they are eager to learn more about.
Similar to last year, there will be interactive sessions with demos, interviews, Q&A, real-world examples, a virtual Sponsor Expo, eBay Swag for attendees, and an eBay Open Sneak Peek event on September 14.
eBay Open Key Dates
eBay has not released an agenda for this year’s eBay Open. But here are the key dates:
- Registration for in-person eBay Open Studio Events is open now until July 31.
- On July 31, early registration opens for eBay Open main seller conference. Last year, early registration was tied into being able to attend the eBay Open Sneak Peek event. eBay didn’t provide any details on the difference between early registration and general registration, but presumable it will be the same this year.
- On August 1, general registration opens.
- September 14, eBay Open Sneak Peek. No time provided yet.
- September 26, eBay Open Studio events in Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Phoenix.
- September 27-29, eBay Open Online.
eBay said that last year there were 10,360 total attendees at all events, online and in person. It’s programming covered over 35 sessions, with an additional 26 networking sessions. Additionally, in 2022, there were more than 20 booths with eBay experts and over 2,000 photos taken in the photo booth.
While eBay Open focuses on the United States, some programming last year also included specific topics for Canadian sellers. Presumably, that may happen again in 2023.
Of course, sellers in other parts of the world can participate in eBay Open, as some information will apply to them.
In previous years, eBay organized eBay Open events in different countries. However, this year, eBay has already decided to discontinue eBay Open in Germany and instead introduced one-day in-person events as a replacement.
