50% of Online Shoppers Abandon Carts Depending on Delivery Options
According to the latest Metapack 2017 State of eCommerce Delivery Consumer Research Report, half of all shoppers tend to abandon their online shopping baskets if sellers have unsatisfactory delivery choices.
Meanwhile, 60% will purchase their goods from another online retailer if they offer more suitable delivery options. The research was done in August with over 3,577 consumers in countries like the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and the U.S.
Demand for try-before-you-buy proposition likely to increase
Consumer’s expectations from their online buying experience have increased and now the ‘try-before-you-buy’ proposition may just be able to meet the consumer’s demands for a better shopping experience.
According to the survey, 57% would likely use a ‘try-before-you-buy’ service while 59% of millennial shoppers would likely take advantage of it. On the other hand, 47% of silver surfers would likely be interested in the proposition which is still high for the older generation.
High demand for faster delivery option
According to the research, 52% of online shoppers consider fast delivery as their top priority. The demand for one-hour delivery service also went up for at least 54%.
66% of millennial shoppers from ages 27- 38 highly consider ultra-fast delivery when purchasing some merchandises online.
42% of all respondents said that personalization was important to them. 15% of them say that they expect online providers to know who they are and their preferred arrangements.
Over one-fifth of this year’s respondents had recently made at least one purchase overseas in the last 12 months, with one-third of them saying that they had purchased products at least two and five times.
The Research was made online between 4 Aug. and 11 Aug. 2017 with at least 3577 respondents from the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and the U.S.
All survey participants are between 18 and 65+ years of age and had made at least one online purchase in the last 6 months.
The survey sample was designed to ensure that there is equal respondent weighing between the seven countries involved in the research: France (512), the UK (506), Germany (509), Spain (509), Italy (511), the Netherlands (510) and the U.S. (520).
