USPS Domestic Service Disruptions and Post Office Closures – Updated 5/27/2024

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has provided the following information regarding disruptions and suspensions of domestic services and facilities. These disruptions are based on notifications issued by the USPS to the public through industry alerts and social media posts.

Additionally, issues reported by the media that may significantly impact USPS operations in specific areas may also be included here. These will be clearly identified, particularly if they are related to weather events or natural disasters.

USPS Domestic Services covers mail and package shipments within the contiguous United States, as well as those destined for Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam.

Furthermore, military and diplomatic mail (APO/FPO/DPO) are technically classified as “domestic” services in terms of U.S. Postal Service operations and pricing. If USPS becomes aware of any delivery problems or suspensions related to APO/FPO/DPO mail, this information will also be included here.

It’s important to note that once APO/FPO/DPO mail is handed over to the military for international transport, USPS no longer controls its delivery outside the United States.

Some APO/FPO/DPO mail and certain territories may still require customs forms, even if they are priced as domestic services.

USPS Domestic Facility Closures and Network Disruptions

USPS facilities are closed due to Memorial Day on May 27. The postal service will also not deliver or pick up mail on Memorial Day. Regular business will start again on Tuesday

Regional incident (California)

Due to recent mudslides, Highway 150 between Upper Ojai and Santa Paula is now closed indefinitely, affecting specific customers along Rural Route 002.

For residents whose address is located on the following streets, their mail delivery will be affected:

USPS advises all residents and businesses in the aforementioned areas to explore alternative methods for receiving their mail, including submitting a temporary change of address until Highway 150 reopens.

Alternatively, temporary postal boxes have been set up for delivery at Santa Paula Carrier Annex, located at 950 W. Telegraph Road, Santa Paula, CA 93060. Phone: 805-921-0569.
